from Ben Cornwell (Cornell- USA):
I want to let you know about a call for papers on the topic of social networks in later life. I am co-editing a special issue of The Journals of Gerontology: Social Sciences (JGSS) that is dedicated to social networks and aging (see the full announcement at http://www.oxfordjournals.org/our_journals/geronb/socialsciencescfp2013.pdf). We are soliciting manuscripts for a November 2013 submission deadline.
Our goal with this special issue is to breathe new life into the discussion concerning how social networks relate to the life course, aging, and perhaps health. We are particularly interested in work that pushes network-oriented social-gerontological research in new directions. If you analyze social networks and include factors like age of later-life transitions (e.g., retirement, bereavement, health decline) somewhere in your work, you should think about this. We are not restricting our focus to researchers who typically study aging and the life course.
